Project Description
Project - Graphics project
Phoenix
Runes of the Fallen Isle
Gameplay
The fallen Isle is a game inspired by Age of Empires by Ensemble Studios and the tv show known as Vikings It gathers aspects from Age of Empires from an old map I used to play where you gotta escape the mainland while you are overrun and head over across the world and start from nothing and build your way up and eventually gotta invade the island and the aspect of the tv show Vikings came from not necessarily the show itself but vikings nature in general where they invade by the shore and do whatever they want. Why I mentioned the show is because at the time of creating this project I was just finished with the show so it was fresh in my mind and what I gathered from the show itself was then put into the game.
The day I started making it this was the context of it presented as one of the first messages to the player so they can get a better understanding of what the game is about and had the intention of imagining yourself in that scenario because well in this game you picked your choices and most of them led to death but all the choices given was realistic to the scenario you were in and truly test’s the players instinct.
Here was the player’s introduction to the game and the overall context given to explain the scenario “You are on a island off the coast of 9th century Scotland and vikings are coming to pillage/raid, your goal is to survive the night, you are currently on the southern peninsula where the docks are and you don’t have much time before the vikings arrive who will kill you, pick your decisions wisely”

Early Start
In the beginning I wanted to do a more visual representation and another crack on the Fallen Isle from the text based project but changed my way when I wanted to done something more original because a standard rpg just seemed very boring and I remembered the times I played cool math games and there was this paddle panic game that had different elements to it. It was based off an old game from 3 decades of ago where it was just a paddle hitting another paddle and your trying to get the ball past the other person’s paddle so you win and the other game I took inspiration from was called breakout so in short words I done breakout’s layout minus the blocks your supposed to break and did my own twist of having solid moving barriers that could alter the ball’s path if interacted with and for the old paddle game I done the same function for where the ball get passed the paddle then you lose and also there being barriers around that will alter the ball’s trajectory going up and going down.

Last Remarks:
Overall I am a programmer that focuses more on quantity rather than quality, my overall style to stay efficient as a programmer is not as a planner like I will already have an idea for what it'll look like in my head and that’ll stick with me throughout the entire project meaning I don't really want to draw or make prints down because the image is already up here in the brain and will stay throughout the projects entire creation. I am someone from when I make project’s I care more for originality like I'll go out of my way to think of something that is unique meaning that has not been made before because that's just the type of developer I am but on the other hand If I am dealing with a client and they have specific wants and wanted elements I’ll put my creativity on hold for what is best for the client. But if the client wants the game to be similar to another I’ll be more likely to combine 2 functionalities of 2 similar games while still keeping at what the client wants and of course avoid future copyright issues if it is made public from me doing that It wouldn’t totally seem. Overall from all I shared the point I am trying to get across is that I value an original idea rather than just copied things.
